Analysing Magazines (Q Magazine Double Page Spread)


Central Visual Interest (CVI)
The central visual interest on this double page spread is the main image. This is obvious because it is the only feature on the left page therefore readers notice it immediately. 

Alley
Alleys have been used on this double page spread so readers can view the article clearly without any hassle. 
The alleys also make the double page spread look organised and neat. It looks professional.

Main Image
The main image is effective on this double page spread. It makes the pages look like there is not much to read therefore readers will be appealed by it and consider reading the article. 
The main image is intriguing because the colours on the image contrast well with the white background on the other page. The colours compliment each other, therefore it is appealing to the readers.
The main image includes the artist Lana Del Ray. This is effective because audiences who are interested in the artist will be more likely to read this article.

Layering
There are an average of 18 layers on this double page spread. They consist of many things such as shapes, an image, the main article text, the stand first, the drop cap, logo and many more features. These layers are all needed because they make the magazine look professional.

Colour Pallet
The colour pallet on the double page spread consists of the colours black, white and red. 
The colours black and white simplify the article for the reader. It is effective because its traditional and not over complicated.
The colour red is only portrayed slightly on the pages, however it is still effective because it stands out amongst the black and white.

Fonts
The fonts on these pages are simple and easy to read (Times font). They are not very modern, however this makes the magazine stylish and individual. 
Some of the article is in italics. This makes the text look elegant and enjoyable to read. 

Standfirst
The use of a standfirst is effective. This is because readers can read about the artist before reading the text to decide weather they are interested or not.
